Welcome to St. Francis School, part of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish in Clearfield, where, in the words of the late Msgr. Robert Barcio (Pastor from 1974-1985), “there is hardly a more scenic area in the Commonwealth with its mountains, forests, and the west branch of the Susquehanna River.”
We are the oldest Parish in the Diocese of Erie, being founded in 1830, and our elementary school, which has students from Preschool through Grade 8, has educated the next generation since 1893. We have a wonderful Principal, Mrs. Sheila Clancy, who is dedicated to Catholic education, and highly qualified teachers who are committed to our mission statement. The primary concern in educational ministry is the good of our students. We want our students to flourish, and to grow in their faith and in virtue. This is accomplished through teaching them with our vision of Catholic education, which consists of two main components. First, faith and reason, both of which are necessary in order to understand truth, work together and are in harmony with one another. Second, the education of the whole person—spiritually, physically, morally, intellectually—so that the student can become the person that God created them to be.
I hope you consider sending your son or daughter to St. Francis School. Give us a call to set up a tour, (814-765-2618) and see the difference a Catholic education can make, and remember what Jesus tells us: “If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31b-32)
