My name is Mrs. Rita Crotzer. I have been teaching at Saint Francis for the last 34 years. I have taught Middle School, Preschool, but mostly 1st Grade. I attended Saint Francis School as a student from grades one through twelve. My grandmother, father, and all of my sisters and brother also graduated from Saint Francis! I received a BA in Elementary Education from Villa Maria College in Erie. I have a Masters in Education with most of my postgraduate work being done at Penn State. I am married to Dennis Crotzer who is the Superintendent of Schools in Johnsonburg, PA. My daughter, Allison is married and I have 2 grandchildren. She lives in Bakersfield, CA and is a children's book author. Her first book will be published this December. I also have a son, Andrew, who lives in San Diego.
As a teacher, I feel that I need to look at each child in my class as an individual. I should learn each child's strengths, as well as weaknesses, in order for them to reach their highest potential. I feel that every child needs structure and firm, but kind, discipline. I want every child in my classroom to feel loved, safe, and special!
